My Story

Pearl “Cookie” Reid, is thrilled to be the voice of Praetorian and proud to be a part of this great cast. She is a Chicago native and her first stage performance was offered by the People’s Jazz Theater in 2004 as the adorable character Addaperle in The Wiz. She was awarded a certificate for outstanding performance and excellence which motivated her to seek other roles. Since then, Pearl went on to portray numerous roles such as Lena in A Raisin in the Sun, Lovie in Jewels, Evelyn in Casting Stones and as Judge Reid and Juanita in My wife and Baby and Momma. Pearl’s path has led her to the silver screen in such Film productions as, Mrs. Ellie in One Step A Mile, Joann in Roost and The Barmaid in The Evil One.

Through her experiences while working with other wonderful artists and directors, Pearl claims she has gained tons of knowledge and genuine camaraderie. In addition to acting, by 2009, Pearl got a taste of the directing bug with successful production companies like Faulkner Productions in The Devil is Loose and Fayes Keylight, directing Baby Sister and The Beat.

By the time 2016 rolled around, her social contributions in the communities began with singing, dancing and as Master of Ceremonies for senior facilities (Churchview Supportive Living, the first of many) and youth organizations (After School Matters 6th Police District) motivated, she established her own not-for-profit company, Pearl’s World Productions. Pearl continues to advance her skills and hopes to one day showcase her skills as a playwright bringing together our youth and seniors to perform together.
